Reverend David C. Camps, Sr., is a native of Queens, New York. He is the son of the late David Caldwell and Anne Camps. Reverend Camps accepted the Lord as his personal Savior on the second Sunday in July 1975 at the First Baptist Church of East Elmhurst, New York under the leadership of the late Rev. Theodore R. Lee, Jr. The first Sunday in August 3, 1975 at 10:30am, Reverend Camps was baptized by immersion.
Rev. Camps was licensed to preach the Gospel from Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina under the direction and guidance of his spiritual father, Pastor Dr. John D. Fuller, Sr. and was Ordained from the Union Missionary Baptist Association.
He currently resides in Fayetteville, North Carolina and is married to his college sweetheart, Theresa N. Camps. He is the proud father of three adult children David Christopher Jr., Christina DeAnne, and Daniel Christian.
Pastor Camps received his elementary education through High school in the New York City public school system graduating from John Browne High School. Following high school graduation, he continued his formal education at Bowie State University, Bowie Maryland and received his Bachelor of Science degree. Pastor Camps also holds a Master of Science degree from George Mason University, Fairfax, Virginia and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Theology at Andersonville Theological Seminary.
Rev. Camps retired from the military in August 2006 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel after over 22 years, 11 months of service.
God called Rev. Camps to pastor his first church, Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkton, North Carolina. He was also called to the Pastorate of the Baldwin Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Camps pastored both churches and conducted two respective services each Sunday.
With the direction of God. Pastor Camps planted Agape Fellowship church of Fayetteville, NC December 8, 2015 with 17 people. Pastor Camps came with a sincere desire to administer the church according to Word of God as he preaches and teaches the Gospel.
Pastor Camps is the current President of the Pastors and Ministers' Conference of the Union Missionary Baptist Association and the former General Baptist State Convention (GBSC) of North Carolina, Recording Secretary (8 years). He has held past positions in the GBSC as the Assistant Recording Secretary, the Executive Board, Recording Secretary, and former Moderator of the Hammond Creek Missionary Baptist Association.
Pastor Camps is the Assistant Vice President of Sponsored Research and Programs at Campbell University. He is a proud member of OMEGA PSI PHI Fraternity, Inc. Pastor Camps and 1st Lady Camps have started the Soles to Souls ministry in three elementary schools in Cumberland county schools. He has received numerous awards and recognitions over his career. Pastor Camps greatest concern is evangelizing our youth and young adults.
Rev. Camps’ philosophy is, “so then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way and let’s run with determination the race that lies before us.”.
